Computing in a cloud
I’m currently reading “The Big Switch” by Nicholas Carr. The main argument in the book is that, like electricity, computing power will move from being small, independent operations, to large, centralized, utility operations. “Computing in the cloud”, as it is sometimes referred to. It’s something Google has been saying for a long time — but we’re likely to see more utility computing operations in the near future.
